  1. 4.0.4. seems to have a bit of trouble rendering selection outlines -- when I select a large region of complex shape (rendered clouds for instance) and quickly zoom in or out, the outline also changes size for a fraction of a second.

EDIT: I'm also still experiencing the bug where window positions will always reset after restarting paint.net.

  3. Not sure where to put this, if anywhere at all, since this is basically a feature request, but here goes.

What I wouldn't mind seeing in future versions is the ability to copy shapes that are still being edited. As it is now, to copy a shape I have to commit the action and manually select it.

I don't know how pasting would be handled with shapes copied like that, though - that is, if the shape would be pasted as pixels or as a yet-uncommited shape.

This is by no means urgent, I'm just saying it'd be something to consider in the future.

  4. After a quick glance through this thread it looks like this hasn't been reported, so...

The newest build, and quite possibly earlier versions as well, draw shapes differently depending on the current zoom. See below - the left square was drawn with the zoom set to 100% (clear edges), the right square is what's drawn when zoomed in or out (rather blurry, or anti-aliased if you will).

I'm on Windows 7 if that matters.

    ----------------------------------------

EDIT: On an unrelated note, I know it says to only report bugs in this thread, so what would be the best place to share change or feature suggestions?

  5. Might have found a bug related to the Magic Wand tool:

    - Select an area

    - Adjust the tolerance

    - Select some other area while holding the Ctrl key to add to the original selection

    - Outcome: Ctrl being pressed is ignored, the original selection is discarded

(edit: wait, this doesn't seem to happen all the time?)

  6. Bezier curves are currently not implemented. I'm not sure many people even use them?

I think they're also unimplemented because I had a billion other things to do and decided to skip past this at the time as a stress-reduction technique. I can add them back if people actually want it, I just have to do some math. I had totally forgotten about them.

I use them more or less frequently, and I'd find it a huge pity if you ended up not reimplementing them.

The choice is yours of course, I'm just saying would keep a copy of 3.5 around for Bezier curves' sake.

  7. Hmm, I haven't seen that. To help me fix this, please provide "dummy proof" step-by-step instructions starting with "launch paint.net". That will help tremendously!

I think what he's referring to is the magic wand's transparency behavior. Default transparency is treated as a shade of black, and remains indistinguishable even at the lowest tolerance level. It's been throwing me off a lot lately.

A few other things I've noticed:

    • I can't move a selection with the arrow keys unless I use the mouse to move it first.
    • I agree with what's been said about the rotation feature being somewhat counter-intuitive (I often end up unintentionally rotating a selection because the cursor wasn't in the right position). I've grown fond of the way previous versions handled it: drag anywhere you want to move, and right-click to rotate. Any chance that could be an option again?
    • Changing the primary color will affect actions I haven't yet committed to (text, drawing shapes) in all opened images, not just the one I'm currently editing. Not sure if this is intended behavior, but at least to me it wasn't what I was expecting.

I'm aware everything but the last one has been reported before - I'm just confiming those, I guess.

Once these are fixed/adjusted, I'll be just as happy with 4.0 as I've been with 3.5. Thanks for all the work you're doing!
