  1. Hi guys, after a short break (5 years? 😉), working quite intensive in sw development for mobile network testing in R&S (5G, IoT, v2x), I' m back and like to spend some time to recover and improve my plugins. Recover because 5 years ago I lost access to ComSquare which hosted the plugins and most of the source code (including backups). Thanks a lot to the people in the forum who replaced the ComSquare links with local copies of the plugins or even improved the code to allow the plugins to work in the current version of paint.net. Well done. I will start to co

  2. So we think 2020 was bad. Personally, some awful things did go down. However, I can remember years too that were bad. Endless drought, fires, floods, illnesses that we were not sure of surviving. Globally we survived, challenged ourselves & grew. Changed, learnt new things, evolved. Left behind people & things that no longer served to build us up. Each year I have started the year with what I would like to see in the coming year. In thinking about this I have come too realise it has all come true one way or another. It depends on your attitude on how you view things. This year

  3. It's not always easy to briefly summarize all of an effect's uses. You do a good job!... for a mere human.😄 I was surprised that when the guidelines-for-publishing-plugins was updated there wasn't more on what should be included in the plugin thread. Plenty of sensible rules of what a plugin should not do but little on how the new plugin should actually be presented to users. Some suggestions: Plugin authors are politely asked to consider the following when publishing new effects and adjustments (possibly relevant for filetypes too). 1. The thread title s

  5. This is a small update that improves some quality-of-life issues, and fixes some important crashes due to mishandling of some non-fatal DirectX errors. To get this update, make sure you have "Also check for pre-release (beta) versions" enabled in Settings, and then click on the Check Now button. (Unfortunately alpha/beta releases are not currently available for the Microsoft Store version of the app). You can also download and install this build directly: https://www.getpaint.net/files/zip/test/paint.net.4.215.7683.6519.install.zip Changes since 4.2.14:

  8. January Update Here is the latest round-up of new plugins. Happy New Year to you all! Dynamic Contrast ReMake Similar to the Photoshop's Dynamic Contrast filter, which allows the creation of high contrast images. Discussion of the color theory is a nice additional touch. Source code provided. Fragment Blur+ Reptillian New version of Fragment Blur (algorithm is not exactly the same). New features are color space options, boundary options, utilize half image hypotenuse rather than distance, linear interpolation shift, superimposing the original. Source

  9. @Joshua Lamusga, IUserFilesService is working correctly in this plugin; it returns the directory path without issue. The problem arises when checking if BrushFactorySettings.xml exists in that directory. If the XML file doesn't exist, then your code throws an exception. To make matters worse, the plugin won't ever create the XML file, because an instance of BrushFactorySettings never gets initialized.

  11. Here's my rough plan to make these rings happen.... 1. Make a round selection the size you want. 2. Drag out a radial gadient from black to white centered in the selection. 3. Use @pyrochild's Curves+ to change the luminosity like this: The number of peaks and troughs = the number of rings. The distance between the peaks = the width of the rings. Same with the troughs. 4. Use the top option control to save the setting as a preset. 5. Find the preset. It should be in this folder C:\Users\NAME\Documents\paint.net User Files\Effect Pre

  13. xBRZ PaintDotNet Plugin This is a file type plugin. It's used to increase the resolution of an image while writing it out as PNG. The result can look especially nice for pixel art graphics. Here's the download: http://bit.ly/xBRZ-PDN-Plugin20210116-6 Source code repository: (I think this is visible to everyone...) https://dev.azure.com/intrepidis/xBRZ/_git/xBRZ.NET?path=%2FxBRZ PaintDotNet Plugin The build pipeline: (maybe there's a newer version there) https://dev.azure.com/intrepidis/xBRZ/_build?definitionId=1&_a=summary The xBR

  14. Plugin authors are politely asked to consider the following when publishing new Effects, FileTypes and Adjustments. P1. The thread title should include the effect name. Optional (and encouraged) include the date of the most recent update. P2. The first post in the thread should contain the most recent/current zip of the effect .dll or a link to where it can be downloaded. P3. Do include a brief description of what the effect/adjustment does. Ideally make the brief description a one or two sentence summary for the plugin index. A separate, more detailed description can be includ

  17. I have attached the test build that I mentioned in my previous post. This should hopefully fix the crash that @DragonFox and @Pixey are seeing when saving a 1024x1024 pixel file. If it works I will submit the changes to Rick for inclusion in a new build. This build has been superseded by the one in the following post: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/31629-animated-images/?do=findComment&comment=579403
