  1. Okay I've figured out the issue here. Palette generation was fine, quantization was fine ...... but then the down-conversion from 8-bit to 4-bit, even with a 4-bit palette, was broken. It's a bug in WIC (Windows Imaging Component), but I already had an 8-bit to 4-bit down-converter so I'm just using that code instead. You can install this build of v4.2.14 which has the fix: https://www.getpaint.net/files/zip/test/paint.net.4.214.7530.38865.install.zip

  2. It's not mine @lynxster4. It's just something I lifted off the web for a quick demonstration. Nice use of the Contour plugin. I forgot of the EdgeShader plugin, thank you for reminding me.

  4. Here's an alternate way @Laceydesigns: @Djisves, I used your butterfly outline (hope you don't mind). I colored the shape a lighter pink than what is shown on the secondary color. I proceeded to use the step outline above. I believe I used 11 contours on the Contour plugin. You'll have to play with the sliders to get something you like best. You can lighten the edge shading if it's too dark. Hope this, also, helps. Welcome to the forum.

  8. Good Day to all! Recent updates have been happening on the sidelines, and my application finally worked again for some reasons unknown. I can finally create a new canvas, adjust my contrast and etc. It appears to have fixed all on its own. Cheers, JustCalvin

  10. Or just make sure you have the latest version of Paint.NET installed (4.2.13). It should be fixing this automatically.

  11. COVID-19 is back in New Zealand. I suppose it was only a matter on time, but ......MEH. THE REAL RANT: After decades I'm changing the way I use my mouse. I'm left handed. I always used a mouse with my left index finger on the left button. That makes it hard to use both buttons at once. From today I'm changing my primary button to the right. Damn this is going to take some getting used to, but the mouse already feels better under my hand.

  12. That is usually caused by Nvidia Image Sharpening. It can disabled in the Nvidia control panel.
