  7. Fixed a crash relating to the save cancellation in Paint.NET 4.1.7. Convert the WebP EXIF metadata into a format that Paint.NET understands. Reduced memory usage when saving. Fixed a P/Invoke marshaling bug when saving the WebP metadata. File version updated to 1.2.0.0.
  8. What version of the Nvidia driver are you using? Is it newer than version 430.39?
  9. For PDN users, you could use Krita to convert files since it supports just about every blending modes in existence in v4.2(other than lazpaint, Krita is the only one that supports every pdn modes as xor do not exist in ps or affinity or gimp) and PDN users aren't likely to get them soon. Plugins don't solve issues with PDN blending modes. The latest ora allows for interchangeability(w/ shortcomings) but it really is best to have a filetype plugin for this purpose.
  10. The theme this week is – "A Desert Scene" Chosen by ( @MJW SOTW #202 winner) This week you're challenged to design and create a signature to look like ‘A Desert Scene’. Examples can be viewed here. The deadline for entries is 7:00 pm (UK time) 2:00 pm (EDT) on Saturday, June 1st, 2019. To see how that equates to other countries, here is a link to the World Time Competition Rules Max dimensions are 500 x 200. Please NOTE: The forum limits signatures to 500 x 150, if it is too large do not try to use it as your regular signature. Please keep your signature family-friendly. Please keep to the theme that has been set. You may modify or replace your image until the deadline! Don’t violate copyright laws with found images; links to source images would be courteous. Your entry must be made using Paint.net; please don't use an outside image editor and try passing it off as PDN work. There are three entries per entrant allowed. Don’t add links to larger versions of your signature. Your entry should be voted on based on the size laid out in rule #1. Please keep larger versions of your work for your gallery. Signatures may be either horizontal or vertical. The winner of the current SOTW gets to choose the subject for the next competition. Good luck all and thank you in advance for entering. Thanks to - chrisco97, Sozo, TheHowler, Nitenurse79, Chimay, DrewDale & Pixey for keeping this comp going in the past. Previous comps have included the following topics as listed Here compiled by MJW. This list will perhaps assist future winners with a theme. This thread is for posting your entries only. If you want to talk about any of the entries, you can do so in the discussion thread found here.
  11. Hi. I keep getting crashes using paint.net. PS along others work just fine but I prefer your lightweight program for my work. I have tried turning hardware acceleration off, several different graphics drivers and reinstalled the program (and even fresh installs of different versions of windows but I keep getting the same crashes. Please see the crashlog if you can help me with my problems. Regards Jonas. This text file was created because paint.net crashed. Please e-mail this to crashlog4@getpaint.net so we can diagnose and fix the problem. 12. Krita does many things well, but two things it excels at is Brushes and Drawing Tablet support. So, for those two to things, I recommend Krita above all. In all other cases, I recommend Paint.NET

  14. @MeasuringRocks, btw, those screenshots are from a very old version of the app. Make sure you install the latest updates. If you don't install updates then you can't get fixes for things like this.
  15. This build has two big things going for it: 1) fixes to the Save Configuration dialog (sorta), and 2) some absolutely massive performance fixes to the main rendering engine when working with very large images. Save Configuration dialog: Some folks have reported that they can't get the Preview to work, even though saving and loading works fine. I don't have a fix for this yet (AFAIK), but at least you'll be able to see what the actual error is now so that you can send it to me. It will show up in the standard error dialog along with the almost useless "Preview: (error)" text that displays at the top. Rendering engine: Before this update, Paint.NET has been very bad about handling very large images. I'm talking images that are on the order of 32,000 pixels large on either dimension (width or height). Zooming and panning often result in very long delays where the app just hangs until it figures itself out -- and we're talking 30, maybe even 60, seconds, even with a $1000 CPU like an overclocked Intel Core i9-7900X. I spent the last week optimizing this and replacing the data structures and work queue management code, and now this should all be working good. It's not 60 FPS, so there's still some work left when the time comes for it, but it's very usable now! The worst delays might be on the order of 100-200ms, so they just feel like kind of a choppy framerate sometimes. Download link: https://www.getpaint.net/files/zip/test/paint.net.4.107.7077.41990.install.zip (I'm adding this to the auto-updater right now) Changes since the previous alpha (build 7070): Fixed: Optimized rendering engine to remove huge lag spikes (30+ seconds) when zooming or panning very large images (e.g. 32K x 32K pixels). Improved: Added error reporting to the Save Configuration dialog. Instead of just saying "Preview: (error)", you'll also get the standard error dialog that includes the exception which can used for troubleshooting. Enjoy!
  16. Oh, I see! I thought it was an odd question. (But then, a lot of odd questions get asked.) Computing the actual length instead of the pixel count might be a good idea. Off hand, I don't know the formula for length a Bezier curve; but since it's a parameterized cubic curve, I expect it isn't too difficult to compute. It is, of course, up to Rick Brewster, and he may have a reason for using the pixel-count version.
  17. Hello and thanks for answering my post! I think you didn't urderstand me well... I know there are 10 pixel, that's ok, but Paint.net gives you the length of a line while you're drawing it in the status bar, and that's what's wrong. What I am saying is that the value given by the software for the diagonal line (13.73 pixels, you can see it in the status bar in my screenshot with the diagonal line in it) is wrong, as it should be 14.14 pixels for a 10x10 pixel image. I've checked the image with other software and the result is the expected 14.14, so there is a problem with Paint.net way of calculating the length of a diagonal line. That's what's bothering me
  18. Thank you @doughty and @klaxxon for the reps! And thank you @Woodsy for updating the PDF!
  19. Loving this @ishani! Very interesting how the mask can be used in different ways. Different layers using Genesis and added drop shadow for a finish.
  20. The comment was about the top ten software for Drawing Tablets. Paint.NET does not support pressure sensitivtiy now, but it is on the list of upcomming features for this year!
  21. The entries were all well done! Especially @MJW's! As usual! Thanks @lynxster4 for a good job of hosting!
  22. Presently Paint.NET does not support pressure sensitivity with graphics tablets.
  23. Actually, the real answer to @Mimi's Question is obviously PAINT.net
  24. The link that you provided was initially about graphics tablets. Many of the graphics tablets being sold now are less than three years old. The fact the link was closed was due to comments to the creator of the thread, that they would have selected a graphics tablet between then and now. In the link that you provided is a reference to Krita. In my response I recommended the use of Krita, which has been around since 2005 and the current version is better than ever. In fact I have been using Paint.NET, Adobe Photoshop, and Corel Draw for over a decade. They are all better than they were 10 years ago! @Mimi Any listing of best graphics illustration software would be subjective, but I would include Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, and Krita. It is not just the tool but the user too! Michelangelo would do far better with a box of Crayola's than any preschooler! 🙂
