Glow effect plugin

Update: This plugin is now included in Paint.NET v2.70 and later. No need to download and install it manually!

Ok I whipped this up in about 30 minutes, hope you like it. It essentially automates the "Glow" tutorial that I wrote here: http://paintdotnet.12.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=860

Download the DLL here: http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/misc/ ... ct_2_6.zip

Source code: http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/misc/ ... rc_2_6.zip

Note: The code is painlessly simple, so be sure to check it out if you're interested

Oops, I forgot to include the readme.txt in there. If you download it again, it'll be in there. I've copied the readme here for convenience:

Glow Effect
-----------

To install, place the DLL into the "Effects" directory where you installed Paint.NET,
then restart Paint.NET.

Example:
 C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\Effects\

Looks nice! All dreamy and such with the soft lighting. Of course, if it were my dream, it'd be an Aston Martin in there in place of the BMW...

I'll have to wait 'til I get home to check it out, but initial impressions bode well for a favorable reception. :D

Another great plugin!

I've used it in a couple spots on this background I've been working on.

Thanks Again, Rick!

My dream car...

*I know it's a Sony game, but I don't have an XBOX. I want one, though. You have any connections, Rick?

I love Paint.NET and I am currently exploring all its options and just playing with it to learn. I have downloaded a couple of plugins and they work great but this glow plugin doesnt, it crashes (freezes) Paint.NET as soon as I start it, I found out it was this plugin after I started taking out every plugin one by one and none of the others crashed Paint. Is there any workaround for this? I would love to be able to apply glow effects to my projects without having to go through the fuss of adding and trying layers, etc

thanks!

@porfirio: with what program do you compile?

No. Way. I've just seen Bob. And... *poof!*—just like that—he disappears into the mist again. ~Helio

PdN use some C++, you won't be able to build it with those tools.

It has the following system prerequisites[...]:

* Windows XP or Windows Server 2003

* Tablet PC SDK v1.7

* 2.61 source code: Visual Studio 2005 Professional

Picc84:

Is that the NISMO Skyline GT-R?

I've been a Gran Turismo player since the first game in the series on the PSone, but I've never been too big a fan of the Skylines...

By the way, nice use of Bulge! It really gives the car a great perspective.
