I should be able to easily fix this for the next update. Thanks It has to do with how I'm creating some masks while rendering the shape preview (what shows up in the dropdown list and in the history). If I make a few small changes to the appearance, the performance problem vanishes. stikle Posted August 4, 2015 Share Posted August 4, 2015 (edited) Hello- I've been using paint.net 4.05 since release with no problems. I let it auto-update to 4.06 on close today and then it would no longer run. I uninstalled and downloaded the installer directly. It installed but wouldn't run. I uninstalled, rebooted, and installed again, still no joy. Uninstalled and went back to 4.05 (I had saved the installer), and it came right up. Windows 7 Enterprise x64 SP1 Error message capture below. The message references corrupt memory, hence the reboot. Thanks for the years of releases and a fantastic product Rick! I've seen some weird* crashes lately that were fixed by making sure of that Also, it looks like it's crashing while trying to show the crash dialog. So there's still a crash log. Try this: 1. Open 4.0.5, go to Settings -> Diagnostics, then click on "Open crash log folder". Make a note of its location. 2. Close 4.0.5, install 4.0.6 and get it to crash 3. I can't even check for updates even though I have local admin. They've got it locked out VIA GPO. I assume they are up to date. I just find it odd that I can install PDN 4.05 with no problem. FredThompson Posted August 7, 2015 Share Posted August 7, 2015 Build 4.0.6 appears to DEMAND .NET Framework 4.5 and will ignore presence of .NET Framework 4.6.81. 4.0.5 and earlier builds could be extracted to just the file set and run. 4.0.6 claims .NET is corrupted (it's not, code to check .NET version doesn't handle 4.6.81 properly) and wants to run PdnRepair. I'm not sure why you're seeing that. I followed your procedure to reterieve the crash log and I found my logs in %AppData%\Local\paint.net\CrashLogs I pasted the last one here: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=5Qd5MJJx I also attached a screenshot of the error. Hopefully the similiarties between the both of ours and the difference between those in which the program works will be enough to figure out what went wrong. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1 with all updates from windows update installed. By the way the computer has been rebooted. Its interesting what I can do with them with my Paint.NET drawings because I rely on shapes to make parts of drawings so they are symmetrical. In Paint.NET, if I'm understanding your meaning of corner pin, then yes. Its posible to corner pin a shape inside another shape.
