Paint.net 4.0 windows 8

Recommended Posts

Okay, well, the thing updated on me, and I didn't want it to. Now I'm stuck with this.

My problem is that the graphics are acting goofy with 4.0... the screen flashes from white to black (strobe like), and there is a 'dot' trail every time I move the mouse to do anything. I didn't have this issue before the update, it was working fine.

It is now impossible to use.

I've been using paint.net for YEARS. I tried 4.0 earlier, and it had the same issue, so I uninstalled and went to the previous

version, and that does not seem to be available now.

Any ideas?

I have this problem too, I suspect its a problem with my Nvidia card cause its ok when I switch to the Intel one.

--- I have an Acer laptop that has two video cards between which I can switch at will (vey nice feature), the intel one works fine with any settings, but I get the same problem:

Screen flashes and flickers like an evil strobe light and little dots spew out of the mouse when I move the cursor.

Turning off hardware acceleration fixes it with the Nvidia card, and using the Intel card fixes it completely.

My question is how much am i missing (as I ask below).

Anyhow, here is my original post that I plopped into the wrong place on this site:

What is happening is that under the initial instal the window turns black, flashes on and off like strobe light when I move the mouse, and the cursor leaves little dots all over the place.
What I did to fix it was turn off hardware acceleration in the UI section of settings, its an instant fix. HOORAY!
I am curious about what I might be missing.
Is having to turn this off going to cost me some gigantic amount of performance?

I love this program by the way, I use it constantly and recommend it to everyone. Hope that stuff above is helpful. If needed I can send along screenshots, though they are tricky to do while moving the mouse!

Cheers!! And happy 4th of July!
