Nice tutorial Red. Gives a very atmospheric end result. Took me a couple of goes to get the settings and colours I preferred and I added a few steps here and there ( don`t ask which ones because there was a lot of trial and error and I can`t remember! ) . Anyway here is mine -

Nice one JD - thanks for posting the image .. and not giving up with Gradientsgalore.

So, is he waving or drowning? ;)

Edit:

Sorry Goonfella - I didn't comment on yours - (must have been away from the froum then).
It's excellent! - love the distant horizon and the seaweed covered foreground rocks - many thanks for posting the image! ;)

Thank you Red and Barbieq

He is drowning. The sudden burst of sun coming through the cloud and the appearance of the dove are meant to give him hope.I leave it to the viewer to imagine what circumstances got him into his predicament .

I made an account just to reply to this post. I loved this tutorial and its my very first tutorial and it was great, very informative. I think I did decent, I don't have a whole lot of talent with paint.net (or any software of this nature) but this tutorial was great. I of course added some things to make it different and I loved it - I literally was just messing around came up with it.

First timer here.

Amazing Tutorial, thank you so much!

Thanks for taking the time to comment Lolab. I'm glad you found the tutorial useful.

You have made an excellent image!
I particularly like the small boat silhouette and the depth of field effect to add distance.
Well done! ;)

Looks good CosmicPainter!

The colour in the meteor trails adds some drama - perhaps you could go further and let the red light illuminate the mist too - just a thought. Good image as is - thanks for posting!

Hi Vanilla - welcome to the forum (I saw your post in the introduction thread). ;)

Well done on the tutorial - all looks good and I like the clouds you have added.
Nice use of 'dents' and 'twist' on your 'sig' graphic too.

Thanks! I've spent 6 hours today in the car with only a laptop to entertain me - I got a little creative haha
