AGJM
Here is the goal of this tutorial: http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd370/Andrew_MacGillivray/Goal.png Plugins required: Align Object (Optional) Alpha Mask Feather Shape 3D Steps: 1: Create a new image, I made mine 1000x1000. 2: Create a new layer. 3: Select the brush tool, size 500. Put it near the center on the new layer. 4: Optional. If you have align object, put the dot near the center 5: Create a new layer. 6: Put in a radial gradient of your wanted colors on the new layer. I used 00FFFF and 0094FF. 7: Go back to the layer with the black circle. Hit ctrl+a, ctrl+c, ctrl+d (selects the layer, copies it, then deselects it) 8: Make the layer with the black circle invisible. 9: Use the effects > alpha mask (plugin) on the layer with the radial gradient. Use the following settings: Your image should now look like this: 10: Make the black circle visible again. Move it below the gradient circle layer. Your layers should now look like this: 11: Apply effects > blurs > zoom blur at 100. Move the center of the zoom blur off the center of the circle a tiny bit. 12: Apply effects > distort > dents at Scale: 200 Refraction: 63 Roughness: 0 Tension: 10 Quality: 1 13: Move both layers to the upper left corner of the picture. 14: Run zoom blur at 100 on the dents layer. 15: Run effects > distort > dents at Scale: 200 Refraction: 51.98 Roughness: 0 Tension: 6.50 Quality: 1 16: Merge the dents and the gradient circle layers together. 17: Select the newly merged layer. Run effects > render > shape 3D (plugin). First hit the "Reset all" option. Now, set the mode to "Half Sphere Map" (Repeat) Object rotation: X: 54.7 Y: 19.1 Z: 289.7 Be sure that AA is on. 18: Effects > blurs > zoom blur at location (0,0) blur amount 23 19: Add new layer below that one. 20: Add another radial gradient with the same colors you used before. 21: Effects > render > shape 3D, simply press reset all, activate AA, and render. 22: Zoom blur at 36 23: Merge the two layers down 24: Effects > Render > Shape 3D Half Sphere Map (repeat) Camera Angle: 58 X: 257.5 Y: 348.2 Z: 144.7 25: Effects > Object > Feather at 4. Some will come out better than others, as part of it is effected by the dents. I hope you all enjoyed this tutorial, there are quite a few possibilities for it. ~ agjm Edited January 23, 2012 by AGJM The hardest part of ending is starting again. Ego Eram Reputo
Agreed. And a better image of the outcome would not go amiss (its very blurry - intentional?). ebook: Mastering Paint.NET | resources: Plugin Index | Stereogram Tut | proud supporter of Codelab plugins: EER's Plugin Pack | Planetoid | StickMan | WhichSymbol+ | Dr Scott's Markup Renderer | CSV Filetype | dwarf horde plugins: Plugin Browser | ShapeMaker
AGJM
Agreed. And a better image of the outcome would not go amiss (its very blurry - intentional?). It is intentional, it was my first one. Came out very blurry. The hardest part of ending is starting again.
