lewislp
I just downloaded the latest alpha build, and Paint.net crashes every time I try to add a color to the custom swatches. The swatch control changes to a white box with a red X, and the below exception is generated in the desktop file. I just upgraded from an earlier alpha release. Application version: Paint.NET v3.0 (Alpha 3 Release build 3.0.2500.35765) Time of crash: 11/12/2006 8:10:57 PM Application uptime: 00:05:21.8125000 OS Version: 5.2.3790.65536 Service Pack 1 Server x86 .NET Framework version: 2.0.50727.42 x86 Processor: 2x AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ Physical memory: 2047 MB Locale: pdnr.c: en-US, hklm: en-US, hkcu: en-US, cc: en-US, cuic: en-US Exception details: System.InvalidOperationException: Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object. at PaintDotNet.SwatchControl.OnPaint(PaintEventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.PaintWithErrorHandling(PaintEventArgs e, Int16 layer, Boolean disposeEventArgs) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmPaint(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)
Rick Brewster
I believe I've already fixed this for the next release. But, I do have a question for you: has your system been 'up' for several weeks now? (i.e. you haven't restarted, shutdown, etc) Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
lewislp
According to systeminfo: 24 Days, 23 Hours, 30 Minutes, 24 Seconds Do you want me to reboot and see if it corrects itself?
Rick Brewster
Ok then you're running into exactly what I thought would happen. Rebooting will fix this for you in the short term. (in the long term the next release will fix the issue entirely) Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
lewislp
Rick, a reboot fixed the problem and will hold me over until the next release. The gradient tool is a nice addition. Now if text could remain editable, you'll make web developers happy, although I realize that isn't a trivial change...
Born2killx
I believe that Paint.NET is not a text editor, but a graphics manipulation program. I think. Quote I built my first computer at age 11!
aphillips
There was supposed to be a special text layer at one stage which allowed text to be editable. I guess it got dropped.
Rick Brewster
Nah, text layers have never had a concrete schedule. It's always been something of a "yeah it'll be awesome ... someday ... when we have the infrastructure in place." And with every release, "someday" comes closer.
