Plugins and Winzip help

Ok I asked a few questions in another thread but I don't want to clog that thread with all my questions. So here is my issue:

I wanted this plugin and I downloaded it. When it opened my 1st issue is it always goes to windows videos... don't know why.

My next issue is I can't seem to extract the file, I don't really think I know what I am doing. I do not use winzip so I am dumb at it lol

I have Vista and I had to download the free winzip file.

Anyhelp would be great!

The zip should open without using winzip.

Download to your Download folder.

Left-click the zip, then left-click the folder inside the zip. (dpyplugins5)

Then copy/paste the .dll files into your Effects folder.

Copy/paste the DLLs only, don't copy/paste the folder

that they come in.

Your OS file associations for .zip may be screwed up.

I`m not sure but I think you might have a file association problem there. It might also explain why you can`t unzip files. I had Vista as well and you should be able to just right click and choose `Extract' from the list that appears or just left click as Sarkut said.

I had a file association problem myself once where Paint.Net would try to open everything - zips included - which obviously never worked.Can`t remember how I fixed it unfortunately.

Please don`t take my word for it though. I`m no expert. Try going to a more technically oriented forum (there are plenty to choose from - the popular magazines usually have places for questions like this on theirs)

They might be able to help better there.

Only problem: They're only available in ZIP format, although I guess you could unzip on another computer or something.

Edit: ZIP isn't.

Ok when I click the download and then hit save the file it saves type as is under is Windows Media Player, the only other one I can pick is all files.

Right-click a zip-file, then click on Properties.

What does it say next to - " Opens with: " ?

It says

The type of file also says Windows Media Player (.zip)

Thank you so much for all your help and I know Im starting to be a pain in the a** lol but I am getting stuck on number 4

4. Right click on the .reg file and click on Merge.

I dont see merge I have the file on my desktop but I dont see this step.

Is there another link that has pics lol So I can tell which part I am messing up on or if I am skipping something....

Cause I should have gotten this by now, I know it's not that hard!

When I right-click the .reg file Merge is at the very top of the context menu.

You are right-clicking the .zip, not the .reg file..

Your screenshot shows that the plugin zip has been right-clicked.

The Merge refers to the .reg file

from the Default_ZIP.reg download on the

Default File Associations link.

Im right clicking the folder with all the info the one above the one Im right clicking is the zip which goes to the windows media player. Which is how it comes out when I download it from the thread on here.

SO what I am doing wrong? I dont know which is the reg I thought that was the folder I was clicking on was cause I turned into a folder.

I have a theory.

The .reg file that should fix her problems (assuming you're female) seems to come in a .zip.

But she can't open .zips, so how is she going to fix her problem?

Yes I am a female lol

I used to be able to open zip files and stuff but that was on a diff comp and years ago. On this one I am having a hard time with some really simple stuff.

Actually, no.

It's the only one that's not a zip so all is good.

OK. What you just downloaded is what needs the right-click > Merge.

After you do that reboot your PC.

Then, left-click the dpyplugins5 zip,

then left-click the folder inside the zip. (dpyplugins5)

Then copy/paste the .dll files into your Effects folder.
