Before we begin, let me just say that this isn't my first post. My old account, combot55, has had its password lost, and its email no longer works, so I can't reset my password. :( But I like this name more, so it doesn't matter. I also won't be typing all nice like this after this post, due to the face that my fingers suck, and it's hard to type like this. All my tutorials will be typed like this, however. Now, let's begin! :D

All images are clickable for a larger size.

Plug-ins required: Gradient Bars

That's it. :D

This is our final product.

Step 1:

Create a new image at 800x600, then choose your colors. Take not that note all color combinations will work for this, and it doesn't matter too much about what colors you pick, as they just get changed later.

I picked #0026FF for primary and #007F0E for secondary, but it's up to you. :)

Step 2:

Run Gradient Bars with these settings.

You should get something like this, depending on your chosen color.

Step 3:

Using the Rectangle Select Tool :RectangleSelectTool:, select everything from 0, 0 to 800, 299. Copy that, create a new layer, and paste the image onto the new layer. Then, go into the Layers menu at the top, and click Flip Vertical :Vertical:. Then merge the top layer down. It should look like this now (remember, results may vary.)

Step 4:

Duplicate the layer (Ctrl+Shift+D) :DuplicateLayer:. On the new layer, go to the Layers menu at the top, and click Flip Horizontal :Horiz:.

I don't think you'll need an image for this step. If you do, imagine the last picture mirrored.

Step 5:

On the top layer, change the blending mode to Xor (to change the blending mode, click the Properties button :Properties: in the layer window.) Here are my results.

Looks pretty awesome already, doesn't it? However, it can look better. Take note that this is where you'll find out if your colors are incompatible. If you get a bunch of random colored pixels, or an ugly line going through the middle, start over with different colors.

Step 6:

Flatten the image :Flatten:, and Gaussian Blur :GaussianBlur: the single layer by a radius of 1. After you do that, use the Glow effect :Glow:. Adjust it to your liking.

This is the last step, and my end result is this.

Now that looks awesome, doesn't it?

Extra step:

Run Polar Inversion :PolarInversion: at default settings, but with the amount set to 4.00. You get something that resembles sound waves in a way.

Anyway, that's it for this tutorial. Hope you enjoyed it. And if you're wondering, yes, this was used to make my signature. :D

Sorry, but I think you might need to work on your tutorials a bit more before doing another. Also, try reading rules 5-7 here to learn a lot more about pdn before posting a future tutorial. Nice try, but I don't think it should be in the tutorial section because it doesn't accomplish much in a graphic sense. ;)

for rule 5, it actually wasnt done by fiddling with effects, and it doesnt just take a couple of clicks. to my knowledge, no one has made this yet, and i doubt they have at all

for rule 6, ive been using pdn for 2 years, and like i said at the beginning, my old account got lost, so i had to make a new one

for rule 7, that was just an optional step and isnt required

it doesnt accomplish much in a graphical sense? its in the miscellaneous section! plus, it DOES look nice, and with all the different colors you can use, and the different effects you can add on, you could make a plethora of images using this tutorial. proof? sure, here

maybe you should read the tutorial more thoroughly so you know what im saying, instead of looking at my post count, join date, and the one OPTIONAL step that uses polar inversion ;)

Remember the line in the guidelines about how if your tutorial isn't good, don't be surprised when we tell you as much?

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.
