Color and Black and White - The Pleasantville Effect

How do I manually apply color with this effect? The wand gets me most of what I want, but it skips a few leaves in a bouquet I am coloring. How can I get it to "mirror" the page underneath to get the color it has? The paintbrush only seems to be able to get my solid colors or inkblot of solid colors.

Thanks for the tutorial.

I was trying to make the following pic black and white other than the flower pointed by the arrow.

iw6a7b.jpg

But everytime I try to select the areas with the magic wand, either areas from adjacent flower also gets selected or not all the area of the flower (of interest) is selected.

Please tell me how do I select only the flower I want.

I guess the broad question is how do I select an object which I want to keep colored, from a pool of same color objects (which I want to make black and white).

Thanks for your help.

My suggestions would be to go here:

This sounds like what you need.

how do you do step 5? i cant figure out how to copy and paste

Copy using Ctrl+C. Paste using Ctrl+V.

also how do you select more than one item. say a shirt and then a flower in the background

If you hold down "Shift," you will be able to build up another selection.

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

Thanks for putting together this tutorial. I had no idea how to do this in Paint, only in Picasa (and in Picasa you can only choose 1 item to stay colored)

Thanks again!
