All the pics look amazing.....I have a slightly different way of doing the same effect...

Click title to view: >> "Blending colour into black & white Images"

-----------------------------------

Helpful Plug-in:

Colour To Alpha by Tanel

Tools:

Eraser Tool-Expose lower layer

Magic Wand-Control erasing edges (use with "ADD" and "Tolerance" adjustments)

1. Duplicate Image and convert the top layer to B/W using your favourite method (Or use colour tones).

2. Select the B/W layer and use the Eraser tool as a paintbrush to remove areas and expose the layer below. The intensity of the brush can be adjusted by lowering the "Transparency-Alpha" found on the “Colour Bar” when you click the "More>>" button. Erase a little or a lot. It’s up to you.

Well, unless you renamed it, it should be the layer at the very bottom of the Layers window. It should be called "Background".

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.
