I needed to work with images af about 1meterx1meter at 300dpi resolution and my laptop was working for many minutes, then casually I discovered that the same on photoshop was 10-100 times faster, why? That is an extremely massive image. It would require about 170 gigabytes of ram if my quick calculation about layer memory usage is still correct.
