I would like to extend a portrait photo to make a wallpaper. The photo has already a nice, soft left border (dark red/black) which I would like to extend further to the left, fading it to black. How can I do this with Paint.net? (I'm trying to copy a 1 pixel wide stripe from the left border, extend it, and somehow blend it with a black to white gradient filled background).
