About DW.dev

  1. Hi there! This is the first version of the Alpha Transform plugin. Recently, I needed to create an alpha mask based on the brightness of each pixel in the image, and I wanted a full range (0-255) of alpha values even though the brightness of the pixels was within a narrow range. I couldn't find any simple way of doing this, and so I decided to develop the Alpha Transform plugin. The range of brightness (of the pixels to be transformed) is specified by two limits. Pixels with brightness below the lower limit get alpha set to 0 (fully transparent). Pixels with brightness above the upper limit get alpha set to 255 (fully opaque). Pixels with brightness in the range between the lower and upper limits get alpha set to a value between 0 and 255 depending on their brightness. The brightness of a pixel is normally determined from the HSV Value (V), but there is an option to use Luminance (perceived brightness) instead. There is also an option to invert the alpha values assigned to pixels, and an option to replace all pixel RGB colors by the current Primary Color. Hope it works for you! Please let me know if you have any problems. This effect has been superseded. See this thread: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/16195-
