  1. I criticized you when the previous versions failed to install. Now I'm congratulating you on solving the problems (v3.07). autolisp
  2. I disabled all my AV software. No change. This application still fails to install. Still giving the same list of errors.
  3. I'm pretty sure I tried this. But I will have one last go and let you know the results
  4. I'm not going to bother trying to install this application again, it just infuriates me. The registry entries are the same as documented in other posts where the user's have had failed install attempts. It seems there is a 'prohibited' access problem. I received a reply stating that I could cure it if I could edit the registry. I dont have that ability. Thanks for your interest
  5. Thanks for the tip. I installed the VC++ from MSoft. No Use. Still wont install.
  6. I want to thank 'bob' for the link. I read it but was not quite sure what to do. I sent a 'pm' to pd5rm (the originator of the topic) almost immediately I got a positive reply. I still can not do the changes in the registry that would cure the 'non-installation'. But at least I now know it is nothing I have done! I will have to continue using 'GIMP' until someone sorts it out!
  7. I looked forward to this release. Hoping I could install it (unlike 3.01). I got exactly the same error messages as with 3.01 "Problem with this windows installer package". I'm going back to using GIMP. At least that installs!
  8. I have lost countless hours trying to get this application to install. I have looked through the forum to find a solution without success. I have downloaded and installed the latest version of framework.net3, Windows installer 3.1. I have removed all previous versions of paint.net and its installer from the aborted attempts. I have tried to install it in safe mode, but windows installer is not available in this mode! All without success. My logic tells me that "If the previous version installed OK with the framework2.net then that version and the version of framework were OK". Things went 'tits-up' when I was forced to upgrade to version 3.01 to continue to use this application. So. I have to conclude that someone has screwed-up with the programming of the new version! Another reply said it might be a problem with 'framework', but I don't think this is the case, otherwise why did it work perfectly well with the previous version of paint.net? And as a bonus. It did something to my system that stops version 3 from installing now! One thing that is guaranteed to put people off using it, is problems installing it. I have removed and reinstalled other applications just to see if there was a problem. Nope. Only with this one!
  9. I'm getting the same error as always. Failed to install. 'Problem with the installation contact your vendor etc'. Then I get a list of about 6 Paint.net registry errors. I thought uninstalling and then reinstalling .NET framework should cure any problems with that! If I am missing something your advice would be appreciated. thanks Edit. I located a version 3.0. But now that will not install either!! I re-ran the .Net2 installer and carried out a 'repair'. Still can't install this software.
  10. I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling framework.net, paint.net. I have upgraded the Windows installer from MSoft to 3.1. I have used registry cleaning software, Windows fault-finding software. I still cannot get P.net 3.1 to install on my system. I have scanned through the solutions provided by others, but they don't work for my system! I would like to get another copy of v3.0, but where? Failing that I will have to revert to my previous, pre paint.net, application. Pity. But thats life I suppose!
  11. This is a stickup that I get when I try to install the latest Paint.net. System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the registry key 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Paint.NET' is denied, at Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey.Win32Error(Int32 errorCode, String str) at Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey.CreateSubKey(String subkey, RegistryKeyPermissionCheckpermissionCheck, RegistrySecurity registrySecurity) at Microsoft. Win32. RegistryKey.CreateSubKey(String subkey) at PaintDotNet.SetupNgen.MainImpl(String[] args) at PaintDotNet.5etupNgen.Main(string[] args) I have framework 2 installed and I am using windows installer 3.1. I have rebooted etc etc etc. I never had a problem with Ver 3.0[/img]
  12. The version 3.0 installed easily. This version will only give a list of errors. I tried downloading and installing the 50mb one. I still get the same error messages, loads of em. If I can't install it easily. I will not use it! I even tried installing framework 2 separately. Still same errors.
  13. Thanks for the prompt reply. Pity though. There are some very cool plugins available. autolisp
  14. Is there a possibility that plugins available for other applications such as PSPro or PShop (.8bf extensions) could be used in Paint.NET. Or will they never be acceptable Thank you autolisp
  15. @BoltBait Thanks for that info. I copied all the text from the link you suggested and modified it in two places. Initial grid size I = 250. Default line width = 3 Works a treat. Thanks autolisp. p.s. I could not get the line width to be related to brush width?
