  1. I'm looking for a plugin that I remember from the past. You could use it to remove scratches from old photos or annoying lines, such as overhead power lines. To do this, you had to draw lines in the user interface and define areas for correction. What was the name of this plugin and is it still compatible with PDN v.5?

BTW: I know "Content Aware Fill" but that isn't what I'm looking for.

  2. To correct a common layman error: Text in an image cannot be edited or formatted. It's just colored pixels, just like the rest of the image, so it needs to be painted over to change it. As long as the surrounding areas are solid color, this is very easy. Otherwise it is usually easier to completely redesign the image in a similar form.

Those files go into the Effects folder.

So the instructions here are wrong and should be fixed. I have now placed the files in the effects folder and now it works.

Copy the two files OptionBasedLibrary vX.X.dll/.dlc to the Paint.NET\ folder (NOT to Paint.NET\Effects\ !!!) A typical location is "C:\Program Files\Paint.NET".

    From:

...what is the linked location by page 1 of GraphPaper Plugin

  4. I tried installing the latest version of Graph Paper on PDN 5.0. Both the GraphPaper.dll and Graphpaper.dlc files are in the Effects folder, and the OptionBasedLibrary v0.7.9.dll and OptionBasedLibrary v0.7.9.dlc files are in the main PDN folder. However, the plugin does not appear in the menu, is not recognized and listed as installed by the plugin browser, and does not appear as faulty in the PDN error messages. May I hope there is a solution?

    BTW:

I tried posting this in the appropriate forum but that didn't work either.

  5. After installing NOTHING works anymore. All the plugins appears in a very small box/window in the upper left corner without most of their options. On more simple effect like "local contrast" a new window "Initializing" appears and nothing happens after waiting for many minutes. I have to end the program in task-manager.

    Please help!

  6. Well, if there IS a Note in the store BEFORE you buy it, then it is fine.

And YES, I know a lot of people who consider PDN to be a product only for sale and therefore do not use it.

Addendum: I don't want to annoy anyone here. I am a big fan of PDN and I hope that it will be more successful and better known. And I think it also fails because of such little things.

So keep your emojis to yourself. I don't need it.

  7. I know that already. That isn't enough. In my opinion there should be an Note in the Microsoft Store offer (I don't use the MS store so I don't know how it looks there).

Meanwhile many people don't use normal websites like "getpaint.net" and only crawling the MS store.

And BTW: The webdesign of getpaint.net is oldfashioned, cluttered and confusing. I have no problem with that, but the new generation does.

  8. Since I just had to experience it again: At least here in Germany there is the erroneous prejudice that Paint.net only exists as a paid version. Hence, many people refrain from using it. Even if I understand that a little money helps the developer, it might be helpful for the image of the product to point out more clearly that there is also a free version with the same scope of functions.

what is the use of the little circle in the center of the ball?

It's the Rotation Center for a new or selected object and can be pulled somewhere else. If done, you see a button with a blue arrow. If you click it, the Rotation Center is back in the real center position.

  10. Well, it's clear, that if one image is smaller than the other and both loaded in seperate layers, the final size is dictated by the bigger image.

I never use it in such way. If I want combine two image like this, I would first load the image with the man as background layer, adding a new layer, loading and resizing the ball in a separate image, so that it would be smaller than the main image, copy and paste him into the new layer of the men-image, and then I would finetune the size.

Your basket ball must be in the uppermost layer.

  11. 0. Where do you have downloaded this outdated version? Actual is 4.0.21. You should really update because many bugs are fixed and features enhanced.

    1. Select the image part with the Rectangle Select Tool  :Selection: or  (Ctrl + A) for the whole image, choose Move selected pixel :MoveSelectionTool: , hold Shift key pressed and drag one of the 8 nubs on the edge to resize or go in the menu Image -> Resize, check the Checkbox "Maintain aspect ratio" and choose a new width or height.

    2. What have you done to load this image? Do you have paste it in an empty new layer?

    3. Please read the Online Manual.

Yes, you would think it has to be somewhere if no errors were tripped.

I only know, that many software installations produces logs somewhere and sometimes, even without error messages you can find the errors in those logs. So it may be here too.

I was thinking of maybe copying the entire PAINTDOTNET folder from one of my other computers and pasting it in to my problem PC to see what that would do...............your thoughts ???????????????

I don't believe, that this would work. Some parts of the installation includes changes in the Windows Registry Database too and that would be a problem for your idea.
