  1. BoltBait, why bother taking another image when you can just CSI enhance it? Just get the image, push a couple of buttons while you say "enhance the image" and done. You can actually get 1440p full HD photos from a single coloured picture..
  2. Thanks Seerose! I've added another one which is similar, but a marked improvement.
  3. Holy wow, that's neat. I like it a lot, nice an simple. The shadows and lighting are spot-on.
  4. I don't think I dithered anything - what you're seeing is a roughened vignette, for that 'grunge' effect. There is also definitely smoke there, but it's probably not as noticeable as the other plumes. Yours is pretty good, it does look a lot like cross-stitch. Perhaps duplicate the layer twice, add noise, motion blur the first up, the second across, blend layers. The best blend mode seems to be 'Darken'. It adds a little more 'thread-y' texture to it.
  5. Long hiatus, but I'm back. Here is my new image, 'Gonirra'
  6. Not bad! Perhaps the front 'engine' bit isn't required, and maybe the rear one could be enlarged. Looks neat though, keep it up! Here's one I was commisioned to do. It's my sister's guinea pig attacking Tokyo. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/236475228/gonirra.png
  7. Nice! They look like the MegaTowers from Simcity. I hope they're more profitable!
  8. A good rule of thumb is to start with a large canvas and work downwards. It's much, much more difficult to start with a small canvas and work outwards.
  9. Looks great! Glad you found what you were looking for!
  10. Time to revive this with my latest abstract:
  11. Sure thing, I'll work on it after my Physics exam this afternoon!
  12. You might want to try using the Oblique plugin, which lets you skew objects. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/2524-oblique-effect-plugin-ymd100714/ I think true isometric angle is 30 degrees, so when you have the plugin, follow these steps: Duplicate the layer. Use the Oblique plugin to skew the fence. (You may need to do this on a larger canvas, since if the image goes off the edge it will wrap around.) The numbers you're looking for probably have something to do with 30 degrees, mess around and see if you can get it perfect. Let me know if you need any other help!
  13. Updated! "The Orb" I might do a tutorial on the liquid in the background, if anyone's interested. I hijacked it from a photoshop tutorial with some tweaks and modifications.
  14. First start by outlining it in pencil on a new layer and filling in the outline. Then, select the shape you made and apply a gradient to it.
  15. Sometimes I find the transparent gradient tool a bit tricky to use (lol), so I'm sure this plugin will come in handy! Perhaps an option to pan the effect would also be useful!
  16. You want to swap the colours used? Use right click instead of left click to draw the gradient.
  17. I've been making a game with my friend Dylan, it's called Iron Rift. I've been making tonnes of art for the game, so I thought I'd share some of it with you! The latest picture is a 100% PDN image of one of the factions in said game, called The Collective. They're meant to be really strong defensive, but they're not aggressive unless you provoke them. They were forced from their home-worlds by usurpers, and hence they are distrustful of strangers. You can find more art and information for Iron Rift on our tumblr page, if you like! http://www.tachyonnz.tumblr.com
  18. Interesting, there may be a way to do this with just transparent gradients, or there may be a plugin. I'll have a look around and see what I can find.
  19. Speedy reply to the rescue! You can find a good plugin for making polygons, I'll see if I can find it. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/9381-polygon-tool-as-in-ms-paint/ Here's another one: http://www.boltbait.com/pdn/BoltBaitPack40.zip ^ That's BoltBait's plugin pack, which includes another Polygon tool as well as many other of his brilliant plugins, which are equally invaluable!
  20. Hey there jbteta, I have a solution for you. First, paste in your BMP file onto the first layer, then make a new layer and paste your GIF onto that. Erase the bits which need transparency by using something like, say, the magic wand tool. Also, you could try renaming the .gif to .png, and try paste it in then; however, I think the issue may be that you weren't using layers - correct me if I'm wrong. Hope this helps!
