  1. You reopen pdn when your system is overwhelmed. I'm sorry, but this seems crazy to me as well. David and Rick gave you the benefit of their opinion, and you bit back. I'm sorry if you felt somehow threatened when David recommended a change in your workflow. He made that comment with you in mind after all. He's a professional. So is Rick. These guys know what they're talking about. Rick in particular takes data integrity VERY seriously. To opine that he doesn't care about this is just ludicrous. Take a step back and realize what you've been given here. An awesome FREE image editor created largely by one very talented guy. If he says the requested 'feature' is not going to happen then accept it. "I like to drive everywhere in reverse" "What's the problem?" "I can't read the road signs - can they be printed backwards?"

  3. Julio, it is great to see someone taking the time to view others' galleries & give positive feedback but this person has not been on the forum in over 2 years...let the thread die a peaceful death. The owner may resurrect it if they wish.

  4. I really like all of the new ones! I especially like the Night Before Christmas one and the blue one. I would like to know how you did them!

  5. I used some plugin here that's listed under effects>render as simply titled "gradient". You'd use the magic wand first to define your selection, and you'd be able to do a gradient there by selecting 4 different colors, and playing around with the settings to get the gradient looking just right. My personal experience has been that in the event of the image losing its sharpness and getting jagged (which sounds like the problem you're having), you want to use AA_Assistant to soften up the jaggedness, to a point where it's no longer distracting to the eye. However, this assumes that the image is already transparent. That being said, when using the magic wand tool, I would recommend not making the tolerance too high...play around with the tolerance setting, and make sure not to have the magic wand include white antialias on the edges of the logo.

  6. I'll look through these when I'm not at work, but I have to say your results look awesome. Keep up the good work. Also: the Edit (02/12/13) thing messed with my head for a minute there, ha ha.

  7. Do make sure you have the rights to use this logo before you do anything. It is possible to get in major legal trouble for using a logo you've found on the internet. The best way to do this would be to get a vector version of this logo and edit it in Illustrator or Inkscape. If that's not available to you, I'd recommend using this image as an alpha mask (plugin is in this forum) on a green gradient.

  8. Hello Apokolyppze, Well done! - good clear tutorial - it must be, I don't normally finish them! My result (as instructions top and my own take below). Suggestions/feedback: May be worth adding where the effects are eg. Effects/Photo/Glow, and how to rename layers (for new users). May be worth adding numbers for the sub-steps so new users can tell us exactly where (if) they are stuck. Some left/right confusion on step 3 bullet point 6? Finally, I like the way you create your shadows on there own layer - that's how I do it - makes it easier to change the lighting angle at a latter stage.

  9. Here is what you are making: Well, after popular demand...here is a signature tutorial by me. It is on my Captain America signature, but I use the same techniques in a lot of my signatures. I do vary it up in a lot of mine, but I do use these techniques a lot. This signature was made with the help of a Photoshop tutorial (I cannot find it now). -- Plugins needed: Smudge (by pyrochild) CustomBrushesMini (by Simon Brown) Gradient Mapping (optional, by pyrochild) -- The tutorial: 1 - Create a new image, 350x150 (or whatever you like). File -> New :New:... 2 - Select your render. I used this render. - You may need to cut it out. I did. To do this, select the Magic Wand tool ( ), and click outside of the render. Lower the tolerance if needed. http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/1809/58852009.png">http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/1809/58852009.png 3 - Paste your render into the signature. Place it where you like. I placed it slighty to the left from the middle. - I erased the edges a bit to blend it. http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/4848/captainamericasignature.png">http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/4848/captainamericasignature.png 4 - Add a layer below the render layer and paste in your render until it fills the canvas. This is used for the background. http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/4848/captainamericasignature.png">http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/4848/captainamericasignature.png 5 - Open Smudge, and smudge the background layer. Brush: Soft Brush, Size: 30, Strength: 25, Jitter: 100 http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/2246/84051338.png">http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/2246/84051338.png 6 - Flatten, Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C, then undo the flatten. Now paste this on a new layer and run sharpen. Erase everything but what is over the focal. http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/4848/captainamericasignature.png">http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/4848/captainamericasignature.png 7 - Add a new layer and open CustomBrushesMini and brush with some splatter brushes. We will later add a clipping mask to this. http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/4848/captainamericasignature.png">http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/4848/captainamericasignature.png 8 - Flatten, Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C, then undo the flatten. Now paste this on a new layer and then stretch it. Now you want to go to the splatter brush layer and get the magic wand tool and hold shift while clicking the layer. Now go back to the stretched layer and press Delete. http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/4848/captainamericasignature.png">http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/4848/captainamericasignature.png 9 - Get the paintbrush tool and set the size to around 75. Now brush around the edges. Now you want to open Gaussian Blur and set it to your preference. What you are doing here is darkening the edges. http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/4848/captainamericasignature.png">http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/4848/captainamericasignature.png 10 - Add some finishing touches. You can now add some finishing touches. Like a light source, some gradient maps, a border and some text. -- Final result: How do I get the brushes used in this tutorial? 1 - Download ABRViewer.NET. Scroll down until you find the download button. http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/1732/85523060.png">http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/1732/85523060.png 2 - Download the brush pack of your choice. I used these splatter brushes. http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/1921/32778003.png">http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/1921/32778003.png 3 - Open ABRViewer.NET and select File -> Open Brush Sets. Then select your .ABR file of brushes you downloaded earlier. http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/5791/38029645.png">http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/5791/38029645.png 4 - Once the processing is finished, select Export -> Thumbnails. Save them in Documents/Paint.NET User Files/Custom Brushes. http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/9461/41795503.png">http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/9461/41795503.png
