I still have some ideas of improvements...

- alpha slider : easy

- gradient (from/to the center) : difficult

- fill with brush patern : medium

Feel free to add that with the sources...

(it should mean no more update on this effect for a while)

What about (please don't kill me or something, i know you have already much else to think) a slider that would size the rays by percentage compared to the other color rays.

for example on your blue yellow ray image, this would allow to enlarge the yellow rays and thin the blue ones.

It would depend on the amount of rays and the lenght etc... so that would be mostly a work of %

who would need to use it???

Considering it has 4 pages of positive responses, that's a very inane question.

Oh my, I love this plugin. With a few rainbow rectangles as a top layer (mode Overlay) and using the Vibrato plugin on a layer under the one mentioned above, then Solorizing it with Ed's "Ed-fects", *muah!* bella!

Edit: Solorized it again... Less risks of seizures :lol:

Whoa. This is cool. I could have a lot of fun with this. I could make a GIF with the rays spinning :)

While using this plug-in, sometimes when I change "Number of rays" it crashes withe the following error.

File: C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\Effects\LightRays.dll
     Effect Name: LightRays.LightRays
     Full error message: PaintDotNet.WorkerThreadException: Worker thread threw an exception ---> System.OutOfMemoryException: Out of memory.
  at System.Drawing.Drawing2D.LinearGradientBrush..ctor(PointF point1, PointF point2, Color color1, Color color2)
  at LightRays.LightRays.Render(EffectConfigToken parameters, RenderArgs dstArgs, RenderArgs srcArgs, Rectangle[] rois, Int32 startIndex, Int32 length)
  at PaintDotNet.Effects.BackgroundEffectRenderer.ThreadFunction()
  --- End of inner exception stack trace ---
  at PaintDotNet.Effects.BackgroundEffectRenderer.Join()
  at PaintDotNet.Effects.BackgroundEffectRenderer.Abort()
  at PaintDotNet.Menus.EffectMenuBase.RunEffect(Type effectType)

I have PDN 3.20 and latest version of this plug-in.
