then i have to press the X and start over and then it will do it again....

ever since i installed paint dot net 3.01 it seems as my computer has been running slow, im sure paint dot net has nothing to do with that but if it does it needs fixed.

Sadly concerned, RacingDJ08

It did this on me today but only for a few moments.

I think it was checking the web for updates when I clicked on a control. Everything went white for a few moments then came back.

I also had something interesting happen yesterday. I had right-clicked on a picture in explorer and said, open with Paint.NET. The picture never did open because there was a timing issue with paint.net checking for updates. It prompted me to update before the picture showed up. I clicked cancel and the picture never did show. I was left with no canvas open at all. I was running 3.01. I couldn't get that one to reproduce.

The white-out normally happens to me when I am working with images that have large dimensions and multiple(10+) layers.

What is really strange is that at times my layers window seems to have a mind of it's own. For instance, sometimes when i have a .pdn open with a bunch of layers and I hover my cursor over the layers window it will scroll either up or down. Also sometimes when I uncheck a layer, instead of the next available checked layer below it being highlighted, the very bottom layer will be. These strange happenings only seem to happen when I have PDN open for extended periods of time.

- DO NOT contact me asking for the .pdn of my avatar or the PDN logo. Thank you. Have a nice day.

Same thing happens to me, but it happens all the time not just when it's been running for a while. A bug maybe, or just a simple quirk of the program?

I've a slower computer than you, and it doesn't appear (or really rarely), but I take care to don't work with 1000+ px images.

What were you doing before it hangs?

Here's a cool trick:

1. Go to: Start > Run... > "CMD.exe"

2. Type: "systeminfo" or "systeminfo > info.txt"

^^That will give you your specs^^

If you chose "systeminfo > info.txt", you can go to C: > WINDOWS > info.txt.

Just right click on "My Computer" and select properties.

Or on your keyboard press and hold the "Windows Logo" button, then press the "Pause" button.

Here's another short lesson for you: by pressing and holding the "Windows Logo" button then pressing the "R" button on your keyboard opens up "Run".

Just edited a spelling mistake.

Not sure, doesn't seem like much hardware-wise, I have reinstalled Paint.NET and I have the latest .NET framework installed (3.0). I've tried exiting all programs, and disabling Antivirus before running paint.NET but nothing seems to have any effect, the program just repetitively freezes throughout use.

My other two computers work perfectly with paint.NET

One is Pentium 4 630 HT, 1 GB RAM and a x300 Graphics; XP MCE

Other is a 3200+, 1GB RAM and x200 Graphics; XP Home

They both have .NET 1.1 and 2.0 installed

I fixed the problem , when I reformatted my computer I only installed .NET 2.0 and 3.0 and never 1.1, I just uninstalled.NET installed 1.1 then 3.0 (also reinstalled paint.NET)

EDIT: ot reverted back to freezing repetitively, it takes me ten goddamn minutes to resize an image.

Disabled hyperthreading on my machine and now I am not getting any more freezing problems, but I don't think that's Racingdj08's problem because I don't believe pentium M supports HT.
