Eliminate Black/Eliminate White (obsolete)

ReMake

Recommended Posts

I don't know how these two plugins will be useful. I created them as auxiliary (demo) effects which were necessary for me at writing of the my next tutorial for creation of plugins in the CodeLab.

These effects have no user interface. You can find them in the menu Effects under the names Eliminate Black and Eliminate White.

Eliminate Black effects is intended to eliminate the dark areas in the image. Eliminate White effects is intended to eliminate the light areas in the image.

The result of the effect's work will be more clear when I will write the next tutorial.

Hi, This definitely works for me ! when trying to make a png transparent, i usually remove white colors.

This would be better if i can choose the color to remove.

Can you make it work with other colors. if i can select a color from the picture and then eliminate it, it would be great.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum, rachidien!

If my opinion counts for anything, I've been using both Cut Color and HSV Eraser and they are really good. The latter has more options to play with, but it's all a matter of trying different values on the sliders. It all depends on the individual features of the image one is working on. On the HSV Eraser thread, MJW and I have been discussing interesting methods to remove tricky colors and backgrounds, if you ever happen to need some clue on that topic.

Hello Remake,

The efffects works correctly with images that cover the entire canvas. However, when I try to eliminate black/white from an image with transparent areas like this one, the effect adds black/white to other areas.

Hello, Eli!

Excuse me, I was not very attentive and missed your message.

This effect has been designed as auxiliary, but I'll see how to fix it.

Eli,

Transparency in your image has a different levels of brightness.

For example, region #1 has a minimum brightness,

Brightness_2.png

and region #2 - the maximum (you can check it with a Color Picker).

Brightness_1.png

For this reason, the result of applying effects looks strange.

Try to fill the transparent region, for example, in the red color. Select this region using the Magic Wand and cut it. The result of applying the effects will be another.

Yes, I will try to create the effect, which will keep the transparency.

Thanks for your suggestions and applying of this effect.

P.S. Probably the name of effect misled you. The right name of this effect may be Eliminate Dark/Light.

Hello, Eli!

I updated effect. Now it has the user interface and allows to keep the transparent areas of the image irrespective of transparency brightness level.
