pat71896
I am embarrassed to say I and I alone made a mess of the download on my Win 8.1. I downloaded Paint.net OK, but foolishly tried to copy the Effects that I had on my Vista. I not only tried to copy them, but I got them into the program area NOT the Effects folder. I could not uninstall via Windows standard uninstall. It said "Error on installation" Then I deleted the folder/files for Paint.net. That went OK. Attempted reinstall and got the message "fatal error" there were no further messages. Can anyone help me? I feel really dumb, I do know better. pdnnoob
Sounds to me like there's some corrupt registry keys (something something things I've read elsewhere that I use to sound techie) Try this: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall 2 Quote No, Paint.NET is not spyware...but, installing it is an IQ test. ~BoltBait Blend modes are like the filling in your sandwich.
