What's this?
This is a plugin under Effect/Render menu.
It allows you to create a hexagonal grid.
The grid is centered on the middle of the picture (or selection).
Oh, BTW, thanks to Boltbait for anti-aliasing code...

How to install
Close Paint.net
Unzip and (re)place the DLL in your Effect folder usually: C:/Program Files/Paint.NET/Effects
The User interface

Not so much to say about it...
Size horz/vert:
You choose the grid size (1 to 1000, default:100). Uncheck the box to change separatly the sliders.
Draw mode:
You could choose between six drawing mode (see the UI).
It is possible to mix the 3 horizontal modes or the 3 vertical modes.
but you can't mix horizontal with vertical. To do so you must run the effect one more time...
Brush width:
You choose the brush size (between 1 and 100).
Transparency:
You choose the transparency/alpha level (between 0 and 255)
Anti-aliased:
You choose with/without anti-aliasing.
<End of lines:
Check the box to have triangles instead half-circles at the end of the lines.
You need to set the transparency low to see this option.
