Add ability to cancel long running built-in tasks

Recommended Posts

I am working on a large image (scanned in color @600dpi), and made numerous modifications without saving.

Then I grabbed the Magic Wand, set the tolerance at 15%, and was about to remove some in-between-the-letters background of the page, but I clicked on the image by accident in a large area.

... the task has been running for 1.5 hours now, maxing a core of my i7 and using 1.9 GB of RAM and counting.

I see that there has been a 'cancel' and progress indicator added for long running plugins in the roadmap, could this be used in the 'basic' tasks as well? Or is there some sort of 'bail' key combination I'm unaware of? (I've tried break, pause, and ctrl+break to no avail)
