Looking for a plug-in; search results didn't help

Recommended Posts

Looking for a plug-in but searches of the forum didn't help me much.

Has anyone created a plug-in that allows you to link layers together so that you can cut/copy/paste/move elements from all layers at once but keep them on their own layers?

I have a master file for my business logo that has a background, text and outline elements each on separate layers.  Occasionally, I'll need to move the pieces around to make different business artwork layouts for displays, banners, etc.  I also experiment with copies of each layer - blur effects, color adjustments, and the like - as I refine the design and get better at using PdN.  Linking the layers of the parts and moving them all at once would make it a lot easier and faster than having to do the same procedure three times and then fiddle with the alignment on each one.

"Plugins - Publishing ONLY!" means that general questions don't go here.  I've moved this over to the general questions forum.  :)

The answer to your question is no, there hasn't been such a plugin, because there can't be.  Paint.NET's plugin architecture only allows a plugin to work on a single layer at a time.  Sorry about that.

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.
