So how do you do it? Well, first, pick your image and paste it onto an new canvas. Second, duplicate the layer. Run the layer through pencil sketch with 1 for pencil tip size, 0 for range. Now run autolevel until you don't notice a change after running it. Change the blending mode to additive. AHHH! What is that? Don't worry... It'll be fixed! Duplicate the layer. Set the layer to overlay. Open Brightness/Contrast and set it to a low setting for both Flatten Paste the original image into a new layer Set the blending mode to multiply Flatten. Much better! The next part is optional, but can enhance the shading on some pictures. Duplicate the layer Run pencil sketch at the highest settings (20, 20) Set the blending mode to multiply Flatten the image and it should look like this: Tada! Have fun and post your results! EDIT: some one said that the same effect is with the ink sketch... not quite. This is the same picture, but with default outline and full color... Extremely different in my opinion.... If you want, ninjajoe56, you can even put the two side by side (or look at the two in the tut) and you'll see the difference. I leave two words as I go off this page. Awesome Tutorial. AGJM Posted July 23, 2011 Share Posted July 23, 2011 (edited) Okay, I took this photo last summer in Scotland. Its right down the hill from Sterling Castle, next to the small cathedral. Here is the result with the tutorial: I used ink sketch to tell the difference, and the tutorial worked better. I would post the ink sketch one, but my internet is going in and out. Sorry. I wonder if anyone would take the time to do a little comparison? I'm (almost) always willing to try a new pug-in,but I'm always willing to mess with a new picture.I don't think the Laplacian Pyramid plug-in compares with this tut or with the regular ink plug-in at all.Here is my try with the same image as above: I tried getting the shadows darker, but the whole image just got grittier looking and the colors started fading out. Edit: Organizing PB. I've got a little more experience with this plugin now, I'll have to try this again. Someday...
