Smart Sharpen

20 posts in this topic

This is a smart sharpening plugin. I applied in the plugin adaptive algorithm, which has been optimized for maximum reduction of halo effect. The plugin is dedicated to sharpening images after reduction size.

It resides in the "Photo" submenu.

Sounds good, but it seems you get an effect somewhat similar to median blur. It looks less realistic and more like a painting :(

[Edit] Might still be appropriate sometimes though, I haven't tested it out.

Less realistic image is due to the aliasing, which on a low-resolution display is highly visible. Without the aliasing can not be strengthened many small details and it is impossible to eliminate the halo effect.

Apart for the fact that it seems to make things somewhat geometric (did you fix that in 1.5 or was that before I posted?), I see nothing wrong. :)
