evilbunny
This tutorial is available as a PDF. Click here to view or download it This is my second tutorial (I hope this one is better ) In this tutorial I will be showing you how to get a picture in your text. Plugins needed: -Gaussian blur -Outline object -Align object step 1: Make a new image 450x150 step 2: Select all (ctrl + a) and then press delete or ctrl + x step 3: Enter your text and use align object, just leave it at middle center. (for best outcome use a fat text) step 4: Search an image on google and copy it. step 5: Add a new layer and paste the image into it. step 6: Go to the background layer with your text and take the magic wand. Select the text. It should now look like this. step 7: Go to layer 2 with your picture and press delete. You should now see something like this. step 8: Go to layer 2 and use the outline object effect. (I choose 4 width) EXTRAS Ok now you're done but to make it look even better we're going to add some extras to it. step 9: Duplicate layer 2 and flip it vertically. Now drag it down a bit like this. step 10: Use the rectangle select and make it look something like this. Then cut the selected part (ctrl + x). step 11: Use gaussian blur on 4. Finished product: Please post your creations

evilbunny
p.s. i loled ther no holes in the 'B' in step 7 then there is hopes in step 8 :o magical Yeah sorry for the confusion :? I maked those holes with the ellipse select in layer 2 first and then i made them in the background layer. So get your ellipse tool. Go to layer 2 and cut out a little circle. Then you see some black. To cut that out go to the background layer and cut it out.
KillerK
Also setting magic wand to global will cut those holes out for you
Ouchy_S
The same effects can be achieved with Alpha Mask Import Quote My deviantART | My Gallery

Possum Roadkill
And the Alpha mask gives a cleaner cutout as well. I really like how you did the reflection, very nice. I use this cutout effect a lot with similar textures with contrasting colors or with photos of things that have a repetitive pattern like a comb of honey (the real thing) or a field of flowers. This is an image I did for one of my You Tube videos. The text is cut out of the graffiti on one train car and put on another. I then used the relief effect on the text to give it more texture. evilbunny
But doesn' t the alpha mask ignore the colors? :?:
david.atwell
Alpha mask ignores colors in the mask, not in the destination image. Also, to get the "holes" in the B, use Magic Wand to select globally. Quote The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. A good wizard tricked it.River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

flip
The reflection isn't the best. Try using a transparent gradient after you blur. Quote Gallery
ふしぎの国のアリス
Tried it twice: On my second attempt I used SinWaves instead of blur - thought the result was a little more fun. The skinnier fonts don't really "show" the picture but I like the overall effect.
