^Is that a cricket ball ?

:evillaugh:

Very nicely made and great sense of humour Jim.

The stitching effect is exceptionally fine.

LMAO, you know when I put that grasshopper in there, it never even dawned on me the possibility of misconstruing it the way you did. That's hilarious!

I only added for the sake of spicing it up a tad.

A very old thread...

This is my try - a soccer ball with pentagons.

All creations are beautiful and your dome looks very good.

Congratulations to all and especially the winner.

In connection with the process, it was not identical to the one described by the originator of this topic.

I have never used a network of pentagons to fill the canvas.

I used this:

NIce image klaxon, that is definitely the closer to real Pattern.

To be fair to the tute' writer there are many footballs with that shaped panel.  I speak from experience having kicked a ball for over 40 years   Modern ones (especially the expensive ones) are quite strange shapes.

I am sorry I wasn't clear enough. Nothing wrong with the tute at all, and thanks to the writer for putting this great job.

But I was talking mathematically here, I believe it is not easy to generate a sphere from stitching only hexagonal shape pieces, there should be a combination 1 to 2.5  of pentagons and hexagons shapes, I hope I am wrong.

I really like to see a ball from  hexagon only shapes.

Thanks yellowman.

welshblue, you're right. Let's call it the classic soccer ball.
