Football

Requirements:
Hexagonal Grid
Glow
Shape3D

I have made two versions for this tutorial, use the one you like best.

Version 1:

Steps:
1. Create an image with the size of 640*480.

2. Render the Render -> Hexagonal Grid with it's default settings.

Posted Image

3. Apply the Stylize - Outline effect with the default settings.

Posted Image

4. Apply the Photo - Glow effect with the default settings.

Posted Image

5. Now start Render - Shape3D.
- In the texture map list, select Plane Map (Scaleable).
- Set the texture Scale to 0,700.
- Turn antialias on with AA level 5.

The result:

Thanks for reading, i've planned this tutorial for a long time now and i'm really happy with it.
I hope you'll find it usefull.
If there's something this tutorial miss or I should've explained better, please tell me.

Thanks to Welshblue for giving ideas for the second version and thanks to david.atwell for fixing some spelling.

Nice idea.

If you use a thicker line width on the hex' ... you can always run the stitch plug-in to make it look more

Posted Image

*edit: maybe bevel selection could make the panels stand out more ?

Nice tut, good idea too. However, i think this needs expansion, like the suggestions welsblue mentioned. Then it'll be a great tut. :)

I'd also edit the title so it say "football" not "fotball". ;)

Merry Christmas

On the shape 3D part, When I change the Texture Scale to 0,700, It changes back to 5.000 and makes it look like a pool ball, ???

Edit: Oh nevermind, On your version it is 0,700 on mine its 0.700, Well nice tutorial, I'll post my result when I finish :D

The post above probably has crappy art.. Just look past that :D

It might be the fact you changed it to "0,700" not "0.700" (notice the comma and the decimal point).
If not, then i don't know. :)

Merry Christmas

Fixed spelling. Added clarification for American users.

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

I think your biggest thanks should go to david.atwell for not locking this, and making the changes

Thanks everybody for the feedback.
And nice ball there wiirus.

This is sorta breaking rules 5a and 6 in the tut guidelines

I don't feel I break any of these.
Firstly I was not in rush, I took me good time to write and make this.
But it must be a little difference to play with effects and make a fotball?
I didn't just play with some effects, it was delibirated.

I like the way you put the grass in, how did you do that? But I see that if you put in the black patches BEFORE using stitch/frosted glass, you dont see those annoying white lines in the patches.
Other wise, job well done!

words might hurt me deeply, causing great emotional, mental, and psychological damage leading to a lowered self-esteem and decreased work-related efficiency.

@ Litl-Lol95 ... I made the grass using Oma's Palm Leaf tut Click Lots of layers and blurs

The ball was a quick job to show the tut author what else you could do.
Thanks
