Click here to view or download it This tutorial is based on two older editions. A Glass Pane - A Video Tutorial by Andreas & Glass Boxes by Flip. Flip's images have disappeared with time and Andrea's video may be difficult for some to follow. End Result Plugins: Object Align and Drop Shadow = KrisVDM's Object Align Begin with a canvas of 800 x 600 and import a picture. Resize if necessary. Make a new layer and with The Shapes Tool use the Rectangle Shape and, with white as the Primary color, draw an "outline" with a brush width of #2 to fit the area you'd like to stand out. Align Object to center it. Use the Magic Wand to select the inside of the outline layer, then make a new layer between the image and the line layer and, with primary color as black and the opacity at zero, use the Linear Reflected Gradient and drag it from the middle of the selected rectangle. You can lower the opacity to your liking in the Layer Properties. Duplicate the Line Layer and go to Effects - Object - Drop Shadow and uncheck the box for "keep original image". Use the strengths as per example. Make sure the box is not selected with the magic wand when you do this. Select the first line layer (layer 3) with the magic wand, and whilst it's still selected go to the top layer and press delete. Finally move the top layer down one layer and you are done.
