  1. Thank you. It's good to get some positive feed back. All this is new to me.
  2. Well here goes. Hopefully we'll see some improvement over time. This was my very first ever bit of serious artwork. Created following barbieq25's excellent tutorial. A couple of other jewels that I did. A golden shield Following another tutorial. A red ball... A glowing blue ball... This is one of many tiles that I am working on for a computer game that I like to play to relax And another... My first go at a planet... I then realized that something was missing - polar ice caps, so... Then I felt the need for a sun and moons... and of course there's the ice cream (lol) and the signature. I did this a few days ago and forgot about it. 01Feb12 Had a go at the sword tutorial. Must confess because of the length of the tutorial I started to get a bit bored and was glad when I finished it. 04Feb12
  3. Thanks guys, lots of really good pointers. I think I'm getting there. Thank you very much.
  4. Thanks. I've got a lot of information now. It's going to take me a while to go over it all, but still really need a cool sun.
  5. This was cool, and so simple to do. Thanks.
  6. Now there's a thought, I'll give that a go. Thank you. Just the sun to improve on then. Not great, but it's a start, thanks for the tip.
  7. Yeah they have been merged together, but it's just not how I'd like it. It's missing a certain je ne sais quoi. Took a look through your gallery, you've got some nice work in there. As for the Moon though I was hoping to draw something from scratch rather than use an existing image and mould it. I'm hoping to build up a complete fantasy solar system and will most likely have one or two moons in it and would want them to be different be able to say "I did that."
  8. Yeah I did use gaussian blur and dents in the hope that it would give it a little bit of a firey look even gradients and different layers in different colours, but I'm still not happy with it. I'd also be interested in how you did your moon, if you would care to share?
  9. I would say MSPaint has everything he is looking for. You can resize the canvas (without stretching the image) quickly and easily using the nubs on the side and bottom giving extra white space to work on. Also if say you wanted to put text on a picture of a computer screen you can set the text box to the size of the screen and it will word wrap within the textbox. The zoom in MSPaint can go from 12.5% to 800%, and at 800% even I can see the pixels.
  10. Does anyone have any advice on how to draw a cool looking and realistic looking sun? I've made a couple of planets after reading Mr.Bobert's planet tutorial, and thought I would try making a whole solar system, but my sun is just a bit bland looking and so am looking for pointers on how to make it look cool.
  11. I enjoyed doing this so much I thought I'd do another one, but this time with polar ice caps. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/28/thernia.png/
  12. This was an amazingly cool tutorial. Excellent. Hopefully I'll get this image shack link thingy right. http://img828.imageshack.us/img828/373/bethsemane.png
  13. Lol. To have a desire for something does not in any way shape or form imply a distaste or dislike for the status quo. If I say I would like a black car does not mean I don't like white cars or that I think white cars are inferior (not to mention all the other colours, as there are more than just black and white). A desire does not mean that the antonym of the word is also felt. Amazon have a wish list function on their website, does this mean that if I add a new book by my favourite author to the wish list, that I did not like his previous book or was in any way dissatisfied by it? If your argument had any logic then that would be the case.
  14. It's a wish list. I was not pointing out any dissatisfact whatsoever. I am NOT dissatisfied with Paint.net. I have NO issues with paint.net. I just thought I would mention a few nice to have options. This in no way implies any dissatisfaction whatsoever. If I bought a car and were to say it would be cool to have a two-tone horn, that does not imply that I am dissatisfied with the car. I can see that I instead of posting to the forums I should have just mailed my wish list to Santa, maybe I would have received a more reasonable response. Did I mention that it was only a Wish List?
