  1. The image below has been touched up (i have cleaned up the lines with the "line/curve tool"), and even redrawn some lines. As you can see, the background is white. can someone tell me how to use the background (all the white) as a "stencil". this way i can use a bold brush to "airbrush" some shading and shadows onto her body, without having to worry about it spraying outside of the lines. i know it can be done, i have done it myself in fact, i just can't remember how. I have the plug-in called "isolate lineart", just FYI.
  2. thanks a lot everyone! i will try those two plug-ins
  3. My first Paint.net project: Originally a pencil sketch, colored and shaded in PDN.
  4. Thanks for the help... I'm a newb though, what's AAs Assistant?
  5. Hello, this is the first piece I have really sunk my teeth into with Paint.net (love this program by the way). I think I'm starting to get a hang of using layers for color and shading etc., but I need help to finish. Could someone tell me the best way to get rid of the rough edges around the monster? If you look close, there is a small edge of "green" between his outline and the black background, and I know it would take forever to try and use the eraser tool to do it, plus I would just screw it up. There has got to be a better way. Also, what if I decided to add a details background, (swamp scene or something), does anyone have a recommendation on how I might best integrate something like that? Thanks a lot. PS: this software is so perfect for someone like me.... I have been an artist all my life, and always I have been jealous of people who can afford expensive photo editing and art programs, while I was stuck with MSPaint... This opens so many doors for me. Thank you Paint.net!!!
  6. I spent several hours on my first PDN project, and I saved it when I finished (just went to file, save as, named it without changing file type.). But now when I try to open it in PDN, I just get an error message "Cannot open file." What gives? Can I salvage the file? How do I save files to open in the future? - Thanks
  7. I'm pretty new at this. I want to know how to take a pencil sketch and add color. Could someone please explain this in simple, precise, step by step terms? I have already installed a plugin called "Isolate Lineart", but I'm not really sure how to put it to use. Thanks in advance - M
  8. Hello, I'm new to this... I have downloaded the plugin and followed the steps above... but I don;t know what to do from here, and I can't find anything in the tutorials on "coloring a sketch". How would you add color to the above picture from this point? Thanks
