System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the registry key 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Paint.NET' is denied. Your problem is not Paint.NET, it's you as a user. Your registry is blocking you. 1) Log in as an admin and try again 2) look up security settings for the registry. Also look here as it not the 1st time your problem has hit someone. I am running Paint.NET on Windows 7 with no problem and it on a system that does not even come close to the min specs for Windows 7. I was going to say that the last known folder logged for the open and save dialog box may have DivX videos, flash, or image files in it. As it know to cause this error a lot. However now I want a test sample of it. You know have someone with the common error due to DivX to run Firefox and do as you said to see if alt-tabbing will work.

File works fine for me and when saving it works as well. Could you post the image of the error message ? When the error shows up, hit Print Screen on your keyboard. Go into micorsoft Paint that comes with Windows and hit Control + V to paste the screen shot. Then save it and upload it. Also is this error only happening on this images or does it happen with others ? If it happens with other images then you may want to do a repair of Paint.NET itself. Go to your Paint.NET install folder and run PdnRepair.exe If its only that image, then try moving the image to another folder and then open it with Paint.NET and try saving. Sometimes videos or DivX files / files that use DivX that are in the same folder were your images are or trying to save to will cause saving errors.

When you are typing up your post, under it is a another box called Upload attachment. Use the browse button to find the file you want to upload and then click the Add the File buttton. When ready click submit to post. NOTE: Uploading your files in a zip file is a good idea as it will allow you to upload more then one file as one file, reduse file size, and help protect users from unseen treats like a file virus. TIP: Whenever downloading attachments, no matter who they are from, you should scan them with a virus program before opening them. Ok 4 AM here and can't keep my eyes open.

ok now, is this a file you opened and are trying to save or a image you created ? If its an image you opened and are trying to save, could you post it for testing on our Paint.NET's or bring it to another computer with Paint.NET to see if its the file itself that Paint.NET don't like. if it an image you are creating, could you do a print screen of the error and then go into MS Paint, paste it, save it, and post it so that we can see it better.

Ok the saving setting box is giving you an error. What format are you trying to save in ? I've seen this error before but only with the apng, and agif formats from simons plugin.

I think thats your problem. Everything I find on that error code seems to point at a problem to do with Micorsoft Exchange Server and HTTP Requests for XML files. You may want to look up some info for that error code (0x80040111) to see if you can find a fix for your COM component, Exchange itself, registory, IE Version, ect... http://classicasp.aspfaq.com/components ... rrors.html https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=317600 What version of Paint.NET are you running, If its older then 3.36 then you may want to try uninstalling Paint.NET, and download the new version and installing as it could be a problem with your Paint.NET trying to find and download update files. I believe you are on 3.36 as I am sure I saw it in the crash file. You can also try turning off the update options for now. Could even be a problem with System.Xml.dll, if this is the case you should do a repair of the .NET Framework.

Can you post the file type and an example image to test ? Also could post to the last post you made what you did to fix your install problem so others who have the same error can know how to fix it. Thank You, HIT

Go to start, click Run, type %temp%, click ok. This should bring up your computers %temp% folder for your user account.

Is Paint.NET installed local on your computer or on a network drive ? If your trying to run Paint.NET from a network drive, it wont work. Paint.NET must be installed on the computer you are using. The reason for this is the .NET Framework from my understanding.

1st thing I am going to ask is, do you have the .NET Framework installed ? 2nd if the 1st one did not fix it go to your %temp% directory and look for files PdnMsiInstall.log and PdnSetupNgenInstall.log and post there contents here. 3rd give more detail about your system. Hopefully the 1st one is the problem and you fix it. HITMAN,

This bug has been reported a number of times. EG: viewtopic.php?p=207093#p207093 From what I can tell there is no real way to fix it. It is belived to be due to other apps, clipboard data, and other factors. Other words, if you can pin point it down to a program or something your doing, it best to avoid doing it if you don't want this problem to occur.

Did you uninstall the .NET Framework ?, if so you will need to reinstall it as Paint.NET needs it for uninstalling as well as Running.
