Another option to Pixey's is to Duplicate the original layer >>> go to Adjustments >>> Invert Colours.  This will turn the stripe and neckerchief white ( turning the symbols black)

You'll then have to get rid of the rest of the image though.  Use the eraser and this tutorial will help https://www.isimonbrown.co.uk/cutting-out-images/

Don't forget to add the brush/ line tool onto a New Layer and not to leave gaps in any joins

Hello @TruePaintNetFan.  Is this what you are looking for?

    EZdmtZN.png

I used the Lasso select around the bandana, made a new layer and, keeping the selection active, filled with white.

Flatten the layers and save to .png.

I understand how to do those but it just looks really fake if i paint it like that

i want it to be white but not look completely fake

To rules out some possibilities, there are two very easy things you can do:

    1) Disable all plugins. No need to delete anything. Simply rename the Effects folder, so paint.net can't find the plugins.

    2) Run paint.net while in Windows Safe Mode.  That will ensure no third-party programs are interfering.

    Windows safe mode WORKED!!!!

what app could be interfearing with it though!

ill try closing ZoneAlarm and alienware FX and stuff maybe try rule out what it is

if it doesnt work could you give me a list of what apps it could be or app types?
